The recovery work is about light, hope, change, and many metaphoric gray areas as well as the shadow world of everyday life. The assemblages share from dreams and life adding another layer to the story, where the mark meets the soul. Some images are pretty - none are sweet.

Those works are not meant to evoke eroticism but to ask questions: questions about love, beauty, life, dark, hurt, the shadow under a layer of lace, the shadow under a layer of beauty. I work from life, not rendered literally but drawn from everyday, sometimes ordinary surroundings. I enjoy the beauty of color that emerges after careful observation. I will paint a reflection of a piece of fruit, treescapes, green lichen, a summer garden or a boatyard with heavy equipment on a local pier or children at play at my favorite swimming hole, all trying to capture the moment in plein air.
